Started with a 60-minute drive to Joglo Hill at retreat with traditional Javanese-style accommodations. After being treated to Javanese coffee served with traditional rice cakes, crackers and seasonal fruits we were able to wander through the villa owner’s antique collections. We were also treated to a traditional Javanese dance and were able to see traditional rice field preparation and planting. From there we traveled to Sam Po Kong (Gedung Batu), a unique temple built in honor of the famous Chinese Admiral, Zheng He. Next was the Rongowarsito Museum, and finally to Greja Blenduk, the oldest church in central Java dating back to 1753. This protestant Dutch church is built in the shape of a Greek cross, and the interior is dominated by an enormous Baroque organ and pulpit.
